From Debut to All-Star: A Brewers Rookie’s Meteoric Rise

July 13, 2025 by Last Word On Baseball

When Jacob Misiorowski took the mound for his major league debut just over a month ago, few could have predicted the whirlwind journey he would be on. The 23-year-old right-hander quickly went from rookie status to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta. Yet, in a season already brimming with surprises, Misiorowski’s rapid ascent has become one of baseball’s most compelling storylines.

Jacob Misiorowski: From Rookie Debutant to All-Star

Misiorowski, towering at 6-foot-7 and armed with a fastball that regularly touches triple digits, announced his arrival in Milwaukee with authority. His first start featured a 100.5 mph heater and five-plus hitless innings. He quickly signaled that the Brewers had something special in their rotation. Misiorowski followed up with a near-perfect game in Minnesota and a memorable duel against Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes. He outdueled last year’s rookie All-Star sensation in front of a raucous home crowd.

Breaking Records in Record Time

The numbers speak for themselves. In just five starts, Misiorowski posted a 4-1 record, a 2.81 ERA, and 33 strikeouts over 25 2/3 innings, holding opposing batters to a paltry .138 average. His velocity averaged 99.3 mph with 89 pitches clocked at 100 mph or higher. This has meant the Miz has left hitters and fans alike in awe. Beyond the raw stats, it’s the composure and poise he’s shown that have set him apart. His performance garnered him National League Rookie of the Month honors for June. His All-Star selection, as a replacement for the Cubs’ Matthew Boyd, shattered the previous record for fewest big league appearances before an All-Star nod. Misiorowski’s five starts make him the fastest to the All-Star Game in MLB history.

The Moment and the Meaning For Milwaukee

Misiorowski’s selection is more than just a statistical oddity—it’s a testament to the organization’s player development and a beacon of hope for a franchise looking to contend in the NL Central. Brewers manager Pat Murphy summed it up best: “He’s just broken the shell, man. There’s something special about him. I’m excited for him, all of these opportunities and the way it’s happening for him”.

Misiorowski’s All-Star journey is a reminder of baseball’s unpredictability and the magic that can happen when talent meets opportunity. As he prepares to represent the Brewers on one of baseball’s biggest stages as an All-Star, one thing is certain; Jacob Misiorowski’s story is just getting started.
