Milwaukee has DFA’ed two former bullpen stalwarts in the wake of today’s trade deadline
Milwaukee has designated relievers Bryan Hudson and Elvis Peguero for assignment, presumably in order to make room for the newly-acquired Shelby Miller and Brandon Lockridge on the 40-man roster.
Hudson was a key contributor for the Brewers out of the bullpen last year, posting a 1.73 ERA in 43 appearances. He was lights-out prior to the All-Star break (posting an ERA under 1 through June) but hadn’t been nearly as effective to end the year. That trend continued in 2025 as he struggled to a 4.35 ERA prior to his demotion to Triple-A Nashville.
Peguero had been more than serviceable in both 2023 and 2024, but got hit hard (4.91 ERA) through 7 1⁄3 innings with Milwaukee this year. Ultimately, he never got a chance to redeem himself in the majors. Peguero had a 3.55 ERA with Nashville, higher than his ERA with the Brewers in each of the past two years. Both pitchers will look to latch on with a team in need of pitching depth.
