The 28-year-old Lockridge has an OPS of .528 through 100 major league at-bats
UPDATE: Per the Padres organization, the Brewers also included SS prospect Jorge Quintana and cash considerations in the deal for Lockridge. Quintana, who signed with the Brewers for $1.7 million as the headliner of their 2024 international free agent class, has a .752 OPS in the Arizona Complex League this year.
The Padres have acquired Nestor Cortes from the Brewers in exchange for Brandon Lockridge. This appears to be the Brewers’ only move on the day of the trade deadline.

Lockridge isn’t exactly what Brewers fans had in mind when suggesting the team trade from their pitching surplus to acquire a power bat. The 28-year-old outfielder has hit one home run in 100 career at-bats, and his Baseball Savant page is entirely blue save for his 99th percentile sprint speed.
To be honest, it’s kind of a baffling move given that the Brewers already have Drew Avans — a very similar type of player — down in Triple-A. You have to think that they might have been better off just keeping Cortes for the stretch run. Hopefully Milwaukee sees something in Lockridge that isn’t readily apparent.
