We’re back with another fan survey with the All-Star break right around the corner
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Milwaukee Brewers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
Welcome to another fan survey brought to you by FanDuel! In this week’s survey, we’re asking fans which Brewer player they believe is most deserving of representing the team at this year’s All-Star game in Atlanta.
Though All-Star starters are announced later tonight, the Brewers have no finalists for any of the starting jobs. Instead, they’ll have a player (or multiple) announced on Sunday evening, when full rosters — featuring 23 players for both the NL and AL — are announced.
With the Brewers likely to have just one representative, we’re asking fans which player they believe is most deserving of a selection. The Crew doesn’t have any clear frontrunners, as most players have had plenty of ups and downs throughout the season. Let’s take a look at the candidates.
Christian Yelich is the name recognition candidate, as the former NL MVP is still a household name across most of the league. While he had a very slow start in 2025, he’s turned it up since late May, as he’s now hitting .262/.337/.457 with a team-high 16 homers, 60 RBIs, 41 runs, and 12 steals through 79 games.
William Contreras hasn’t played quite as well as he did in his first two seasons with Milwaukee, but his 101 OPS+ is still slightly above average and he continues to provide solid defense. He’s hitting .242/.357/.349 with six homers, 34 RBIs, 41 runs, and five steals and he ranks third on the Crew with 2.0 bWAR, behind only Brice Turang and Freddy Peralta.
Brice Turang is one of the best defensive players in baseball, as evidenced by his Platinum Glove Award from last season. Even beyond his defense, though, he’s provided value at the plate, as he’s hitting .289/.361/.380 (all of which are career highs) with five homers, 35 RBIs, 54 runs, and 17 steals. His 3.2 bWAR ranks number one on the team and puts him on pace to exceed his 4.7 bWAR from a year ago.
Freddy Peralta, in his second season as the team ace, has continued to pitch well in year number eight. Through 17 starts entering Wednesday, he is tied for the league lead with eight wins as he has a 2.90 ERA, 3.91 FIP, and 98 strikeouts over 93 innings. He has a solid chance at totaling 200 strikeouts for the third consecutive season, and his 2.2 bWAR puts him on pace to match or exceed his 3.7 bWAR from 2021, when he was an All-Star.
Beyond those guys, there are several other candidates that could make it for Milwaukee. Sal Frelick and Nick Mears have both had breakout seasons, with Frelick ranking fourth on the team with 1.8 bWAR as he’s hit .300/.359/.401 with five homers, 34 RBIs, 38 runs, and 15 steals while providing plus-plus defense. Mears, who had a 7.30 ERA in 13 appearances last season for Milwaukee, has a 2.10 ERA with 29 strikeouts over 34 1⁄3 innings from the bullpen this year. Abner Uribe has also been solid after a disappointing and injury-riddled 2024, as he sports a 2.25 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 40 innings, even after a few recent rough outings (five runs allowed in his last 5 2⁄3 innings).
Who do you think is most deserving of an All-Star selection this year? Vote below and stay tuned for results later this week!
