Yelich has been out since leaving Friday’s game against the Orioles
The Milwaukee Brewers have placed outfielder Christian Yelich on the injured list with a low back strain, retroactive to April 13. To fill his roster spot, Milwaukee recalled utility man Owen Miller from Triple-A Nashville.
Yelich, 32, was enjoying a renaissance season prior to his injury, slugging five homers, driving in 11, stealing two bases, and hitting .333/.422/.744 across 11 games prior to his injury. What was once considered a day-to-day injury ultimately will shelf Yelich for a couple weeks, keeping him out until at least April 23.
Miller, 27, was Milwaukee’s top utility option a season ago, appearing in 90 games and hitting .261/.303/.371 (84 OPS+) with five homers, 27 RBIs, and 13 steals.
He started this season with Nashville, appearing in 13 games and hitting a blazing .353/.414/.451 with 18 hits, four RBIs, seven runs, and a steal.
