It’s a salary dump for Arizona, with Milwaukee taking on Montgomery’s contract in exchange for Miller’s services
UPDATE: Not exactly a salary dump.
The @Brewers are picking up $2 million of the money remaining on @Dbacks Jordan Montgomery’s contract.

UPDATE: The deal appears to be a salary dump, with the Brewers taking on the remaining portion of Montgomery’s one-year, $22.5-million deal in exchange for Miller. The reported return for Arizona is cash considerations or a PTBNL.
Montgomery is currently on the 60-day IL after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He won’t ever throw a pitch in a Brewers uniform on his current contract.
Miller is also on the IL with a forearm strain but should be back soon. He’s had a great season in Arizona, posting a 1.98 ERA, a 3.12 FIP, and a 217 ERA+ through 37 appearances out of the bullpen. Miller was signed by the Brewers organization back in 2019 but opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
