The right-hander has asked for a trade after the team removed him from the rotation
Aaron Civale has requested a trade after the Brewers moved him to the bullpen.
The news comes from The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon after the recent promotion of star prospect Jacob Misiorowski. With the Brewers’ rotation finding success with other arms and young players waiting in the wings, the team decided the best course of action was to move Civale into a relief role.
According to Rosenthal, Civale’s agent revealed details about the conversation as “very professional” and that Civale is “not angry or banging his fist on the table” over the move. It’s understandable that he would look for a more committed role in a rotation elsewhere. Civale arrived in a trade midway through last season, so it will be interesting to follow any rumors that evolve relating to other organizations and their interest in the right-hander.
Civale has pitched to a 4.91 ERA this season over 22 innings in five starts. The bumpy start has been partly to a rough season debut, but he has followed that with four straight starts allowing two or fewer runs. It’s also his 30th birthday:
